The village is 350 m. above the sea level and lays at the hollow between Debelata koria hill to the south, Iurdiata hill to the north and Baira hill to the west.
The name of the village relates to the legend of the beauty Kalia for which Redjeb Pasha had paid ransom, sufficient for a building of a church. Her
shade is built in in the walls of the church and she had rested before going to
the turkish harem. The local people admire that Virgin Kalia had eked both the money for the construction and
the steadiness of the framed church.
The village, considered one of the biggest in Strandja mountain, has been known
with good - looking, light - handed and well singing girls, who was wearing beautiful attires. The rituals and the interesting customs are kept from the locals and are
showed live. The sightseers can meet together with traditional
activities, can buy or try to make by themselves, with the help of the local craftsmen, knitted bracelets, necklets and belts.
